Akin to Karen
A lesbian transwoman,
fortunate enough
to come from a nonreligious,
supportive family,
who complains
when she hears
queer survivors
share stories about
the damage they have endured
at the hands of their
toxic religious families
and communities
is akin to
a wealthy white woman,
born into money,
who refuses to listen to
one more news report
about the experiences
of poor young women of color
who were sold into sex trafficking
and viciously victimized
as children
because it's too annoying
for her to hear
their accounts
of the abuse.
